Bovine cardiac α-actin is a highly conserved, single-chain globular protein with a molecular mass of approximately 42 kDa and a length of 375 amino acids. It is a major structural and contractile protein of muscle tissue and one of the principal components of thin filaments.
In cardiac muscle, actin interacts with myosin and regulatory proteins to support ATP-dependent contraction. Hypermol® bovine cardiac actin is purified from native tissue and is suitable for biochemical, immunological and cell-biological applications requiring purified native actin of defined tissue origin.
