Description
FluoProtect is a high efficient antifading embedding medium for fluorescence microscopy with 24h drying time. The embedding medium is suited for fluorescene microscopy and is compatible with all known fluorescent dyes. It is an aqueous mountant with an additional antifading reagent which strongly reduces photobleaching.
The fluorescence will remain for many weeks, if the specimen are stored protected from light. In contrast to many mounting media FluoProtect does not show autofluorescence at any common wavelength.
Sample Preparation
Use a pipette with a 200 µl tip and place one drop for each coverglass on the slide. The volume of each drop should just be enough to built a fluid film under the coverglass. Depending on the size of the coverglass, about 25µl FluoProtect mounting medium are sufficient for sample preparation. Slowly place the coverglass onto the drop and allow to the coverglass to settle by gravitation.
The coverglass with the sample shall be well hydrated, but as dry as possible to avoid dilution of the mounting medium.
Avoid introducing air bubbles.
Store at RT in an even place and allow to dry for 24h.
Note: after 10h the specimen can already be carefully! observed using immersion oil.
Storage
The solution should be stored at +4 °C in the dark and has a shelf life under these consitions of 1 year minimum.
