Adenosine-5'-(3-thio)-triphosphate (GTPγS) is used as a non-hydrolyzable analogue of GTP, to study energy storage and metabolism in vitro. Small G Proteins have a functional GTPase activity, where GTPγS is used for constitutive activation.
