Cofilin

Cofilin protein, pure; Mw: 18.5 kDa. Cofilin depolymerizes actin filaments and inhibits the polymerization of G-actin in a pH-sensitive manner. It is a regulatory protein of cytoskeletal actin dynamics.

The twisted clue to depolymerize actin.

The ubiquitous actin-binding protein reorganizes the actin cytoskeletons. Members of the ADF/Cofilin family bind to actin monomers and depolymerize actin filaments 1. by severing and 2. by increasing the off-rate for actin monomers from the pointed end. Cofilin changes structure of the actin filaments and makes it twisted to facilitate interaction.

Proteins from Hypermol are of validated high biological activity, as described in our publications.
