LDS-Sample Buffer is a convenient sample buffer for use in SDS-PAGE. The additive lithium dodecyl sulfate (LDS) shows a significantly higher salt tolerance compared to sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS). LDS-SampleBuffer is favored for preparing protein, cell, or tissue samples at physiological salt concentration.
In contrast to samples prepared with SDS sample buffers that frequently show a white precipitate at room temperature, LDS samples are soluble at room temperature and also during cooled electrophoresis.
The buffer contains bromophenol blue dye as a marker to visualize the dye front during electrophoresis. The LDS Sample Buffer is used in denaturing gels and is compatible with Coomassie Blue (R-250 & G-250) and silver staining and Western blotting applications.
5x LDS-SampleBuffer (Tris-Cl pH 6.8) with 500 mM DTT for use in denaturing SDS-PAGE. Includes DTT as a powder to be added freshly before use. |
