Cofilin protein for actin filament severing and depolymerization

A pure ADF/Cofilin-family protein for controlled actin filament turnover, severing assays and pH-sensitive depolymerization workflows.

Cofilin is a small, ubiquitous actin-binding protein that actively reorganizes the actin cytoskeleton. It binds to G-actin and F-actin, changes the twist and mechanical state of actin filaments, and promotes filament disassembly by severing actin filaments and increasing monomer loss from filament ends.

Hypermol® Cofilin is suited for biochemical and cell-biological workflows where actin dynamics must be shifted from filament assembly toward turnover. It is especially useful for studying actin filament aging, severing activity, pointed-end depolymerization, actin recycling and cytoskeletal remodeling under defined assay conditions.

Filament severing
Promotes breaks in actin filaments and generates new filament ends for rapid turnover.
Depolymerization control
Supports assays focused on monomer release, filament disassembly and actin recycling.
pH-sensitive dynamics
Useful for studying how pH and buffer conditions modulate actin turnover activity.

For actin turnover assays
Use Cofilin to shift actin systems toward disassembly and to quantify how filament severing, end dynamics and monomer recycling affect network remodeling.
For reconstituted cytoskeleton systems
Combine Cofilin with actin, profilin, capping proteins or nucleators to model the balance between filament assembly, branching and disassembly.
For cytoskeletal remodeling research
Cofilin is a key tool for studying cell migration, membrane dynamics and the controlled breakdown of older actin filament networks.
Strong experimental use cases
Measure actin filament severing under defined buffer conditions.
Study pH-sensitive inhibition of G-actin polymerization.
Analyze how Cofilin changes filament twist and mechanical stability.
Compare filament disassembly with and without capping proteins.
Model actin recycling in dynamic cytoskeleton networks.
Investigate migration-related actin remodeling pathways.
